T-MICHAEL VS SHIGEO FUKUDA

RIP Shigeo Fukuda

Japanese designer, Mr Shigeo Fukuda was a prolific, playful and a well renowned graphic/ poster artist. He was also a sculptor and a trompe l'oeil artist. More of the man and his work here.

I was introduced to him by Bent rené synnevåg, a friend of mine. Bent is also a photographer. He translates all my designs and projects into images.
Bent showed up with his moleskine jotter and presented me with the ideas for the 2010 collection shoot.
He had a sketch of this poster and the name of the maestro.

I did some reading on the man and we decided to shoot
the collection based on this poster.
Friends and friends of friends are rounded up (we do that a lot, since there are not many models in Bergen)
By this time Mr Fukuda had passed away. So it turned out to be a well fitting homage and tribute to the man and master.

The images that follow is my homage and tribute to Mr Fukuda, featuring my 2010 collection.
Introducing Snorre Martinsen- art director at mkbergen, Daniel Karlsen- jack of all trades and Henning Severud- http://www.myspace.com/telephonesmusic as 'top models'.

My foul-weather friend

Business student Alexander Helle, had an exchange year in Milan where he lived in a collective.
It changed his life.
The realization that his chosen path was way too sobering compared to his artistic and creative flatmates got him pondering.
He started cracking his analytic mind.  6050 rainy days clocked in his native city bergen led to a watershed.

Stylistic raincoats for men!

Alexander found me at my Tailoring studio in Skostredet, Bergen ( I've clocked 4536 days myself!). After an initial healthy dose of sceptism from my side, I joined forces with Alexander.
I drafted the patterns, handcrafted the prototypes, fittings, re design, more fittings...
We shopped around and sourced in fabrics from a reputable Japanese fabric manufacturer and before long Norwegian Rain raincoats were born.
Raincoats for men based on sartorial techniques and heritage. That actually keeps you dry!
The Raincho came to life at the café situated at the crossing of Rue Etienne Marcel and Rue Montmartre. Cafe Etienne Marcel, thanks for the serviettes.
Grandpeople are fully onboard and they create the visual profile. They know their stuff!

We just didn't want to get caught out in the rain again! Do you?

COME FULL CIRCLE

My short film premieres at a public cinema today!
Come full circle is my first short film. I wrote, and produced this 6 minute 35mm film.
It premiered at the Grimstad short film festival June this year.
It's surrealistic dream-like sequence that pulls you out of your everyday configuration and into a visually mesmerizing state.
( I hope...)  Don't take my word for it, find out for yourself!
It's directed and shot by Finn Erik and Nils who also co wrote.

Come Full Circle will be shown before all screenings of Sin Nombre at Bergen Kino. Sin Nombre premieres at Bergen Kino friday, 6th of November at 6.30pm. Check out Bergen kino's website for further screenings.

Offspring one: The Singer Getaway!

In my last posting I presented the Dale Sko Hack and promised to further present you with the first offspring.

After experiencing shoe hacking at Dale, it felt natural to apply my newly acquired skills in the creation of my own shoes. A shoe that keeps me well dressed in a casual sort of way.
I also thought of taking it further to include bags.
I've always wanted a weekend carrier that transcended the simple task of transporting my travelling items. A bag that offers more in terms of design, function and quality.

So, today, I present you with the first offspring:
The SINGER GETAWAY, a weekend carry all.
Inspired by the curvy, lush and the ever so reliable vintage sewing machine.

The whole idea is....
A weekend away, promises of adventure, decadence, delight and anything that tickles your fancy.
Depart in style with your favourite tipple well tucked away.

Roomy enough for your crispy shirts and your well chosen outfits.

It comes with detachable handle straps, convertible hardtop with a champagne carrier and fits perfectly in the overhead compartments!

Designed in Skostredet, handcrafted in Portugal and made out of vegetable tanned leather.
They come in 3 colourways; British racing green, Oxblood and Ebony.
Bringing out the rock star in you!

The Dale Sko Hack's offspring one

I'll be presenting my first offspring from The Dale Sko Hack in my next posting. However first things first.

What is The Dale Sko Hack?

The Dale Sko Hack was a three day workshop and design project endeavouring to develop new interfaces between designer and producer in an effort to evolve small scale production methods, save work places and develop skills within small scale shoe production.
Existing manufacturing facilities and techniques are hacked into to create new exciting products.
The Dale Sko Hack, curated by Otto Von Busch, took place at Dale shoe factory three years ago.
Located on the west coast of norway by the beautiful fjords, right next to Transplant.

Otto Von Busch managed to assemble an impressive line up of Norwegian designers to participate at the shoehack. Arne-Carlos, Katulla, T-Michael, Siv Støldal and her then assistant, Siri Johansen. The project was documented by photographer Bent Renè Synnevåg.

The Dale Sko Hack was awarded Special Prize Fashion Fashion Theory: European Fashion Award 2008.
